Catholic Relief Services – United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (CRS), in consortium with CARE, Chikwawa Diocese, National Cooperative Business Association (NCBA) CLUSA, the National Smallholder Farmers’ Association of Malawi (NASFAM), and Save the Children, is pleased to present its proposal for the United in Building and Advancing Life Expectations (UBALE) program. UBALE, meaning “partnership” in Chichewa, will work through government, community, and private-sector systems and structures to implement a comprehensive program in Chikwawa, Nsanje, and rural Blantyre Districts. Through close collaboration with Government of Malawi (GoM) ministries and other stakeholders, the UBALE partners have designed a program to reduce chronic malnutrition and food insecurity and build resilience among vulnerable populations in three of the most food-insecure, chronically malnourished, and disaster-prone districts of Southern Malawi.
